Convening of Regional Assemblies
In his message on November 15, 2023, Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz invited the faithful of Opus Dei and friends to participate in preparations for the regional assemblies to be held in the upcoming months in the various circumscriptions of the Prelature.
The regional assemblies, also called work weeks, are a help for each circumscription to study the most relevant topics for the formation and apostolic mission of the members of the Prelature and to take stock of the activities carried out in previous years. Convoked every ten years, their function is described in numbers 162-170 of the Statutes of Opus Dei.
In this preparatory phase, which according to the bylaws must last at least two months, each circumscription will determine the method and ways of taking part: personal conversations, group meetings, written consultations, etc.
On this occasion, the regional assemblies will be an instrument to enable everyone to participate in preparing for the centenary of Opus Dei, which will take place beginning in 2028. The aim is to encourage reflection among the people of Opus Dei, cooperators and friends on how to contribute to responding to the challenges of the present time in light of the spirit of Opus Dei and how to celebrate the centenary in each place. In order to facilitate each one’s reflection, the document Path Toward the Centenary has been made available on the Internet, with some considerations that can foster personal proposals.
