Jonacatepec, (Mexico) -- Summer course in English
A group of high school and university students from the United States traveled to Mexico from July 10 to August 1 under the auspices of Youth Service International (YSI) to take part as volunteers in a service project at El Peñón school in Jonacatepec, in the state of Morelos.
For more than ten years, El Peñón has organized an English course for its own students and for boys from neighboring villages. YSI provides the teaching staff of young volunteers from the United States. It also provides subsidies to enable the volunteers to take part in projects to assist needy families. This summer they constructed a two-room brick house for a family.
During their stay in Mexico, the young men also gave catechism classes in the local parish.
