Traveling Exhibition on Arturo Álvarez, Illustrious Son of Zapotlán el Grande

The traveling exhibition “The Chemistry of Teaching,” dedicated to chemical engineer Arturo Álvarez Ramírez, currently in the process of beatification, began in January 2024 in Guadalajara, where “Inge,” as his students called him, was a university professor. It then continued in Ciudad Guzmán, his birthplace, in the state of Jalisco. After a few months it went to Mexico City and other locations in the center of the country, in February 2025 it arrived in Aguascalientes and in April in Monterrey. During this time, tens of thousands of people have visited it. The exhibition features personal items, photographs, letters, and recreations of academic spaces, all of which paint an illustrative picture of Arturo Álvarez’s educational vocation and his impact on generations of students.

In Ciudad Guzmán, capital of the municipality of Zapotlán el Grande, the city council, in a session on Thursday, May 8, officially named him, by unanimous decision of all councilors, an illustrious son of Zapotlán el Grande, in tribute to his academic, human, and spiritual legacy.
