Rouen (France): An Icon in Saint Joseph’s Church

Since March 19, the French city of Rouen has had an artistic icon of St. Josemaría. Located in the church of Saint Joseph, it was blessed on the feast of the church’s patron during a Mass celebrated by the pastor, Abbé Geoffroy de La Tousche. He had been encouraging the faithful to foster devotion to St. Josemaría by placing an image in the church, where days of recollection are preached by priests of Opus Dei.

The icon is the work of the artist Véronique Vié. The upper part shows Mary with the Infant Jesus, who is holding a text from Scripture: “You will be my sons and daughters, says the Almighty Lord” (2 Cor 6:18). In the center, St. Josemaría holds a parchment with a quotation from his homily Passionately Loving the World. To his left and right are an angel and St. Joseph.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the icon, three conferences on various aspects of St. Josemaría’s message were held in St. Joseph’s Church on different days.
