Civil Recognition of Degrees from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross

The Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana has published on March 25, 2024 the decree establishing the correspondences between Italian academic degrees and those of the Holy See. This was issued in the context of the recognition of university level studies pursued in European countries and in accord with the provisions on this matter in the 2019 agreement between the Italian State and the Holy See.

As regards the degrees awarded by the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome), the baccalaureate or first cycle will be equivalent to the Italian university licentiate degree in Philosophy (Laurea), while the specialized licentiate degree or second cycle will correspond to the master’s degree (Laurea Magistrale).

As for the Faculty of Communication, its licentiate degree or second cycle in Institutional Social Communication will be equivalent to the Laurea Magistrale in the field of public and corporate communications and advertising.
