Audience with the Holy Father
On November 28, 2022, Pope Francis received in audience the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz, who was accompanied by the auxiliary vicar of the Prelature, Monsignor Mariano Fazio.
During the half-hour meeting, the Prelate informed the Holy Father of the work being done to prepare for the upcoming Extraordinary General Congress, which will address the adaptation of the Statutes of Opus Dei, following the provisions of the motu proprio “Ad charisma tuendum.” The Prelate also informed him of various initiatives being carried out by faithful of the Prelature. In this context, he told him about the international meeting that, as part of the preparations for Opus Dei's centennial, had brought together in Rome, a few weeks earlier, those responsible for seventy solidarity projects inspired by St. Josemaría’s message.
The Holy Father expressed his joy about how the revision of the Statutes is being carried out and sent his blessing to the men and women of the Prelature and to all those who participate in its apostolates. He also encouraged the Prelate to keep striving to bring Christ’s charity to many people, especially those who are suffering the most.
