With the Young People from UNIV

Msgr. Fernando Ocáriz had several get-togethers with the 2,400 young people from many different countries who took part in the UNIV gathering which, like every year, was held in Rome during Holy Week.

These get-togethers gave the young people the opportunity to speak with him about a wide range of issues. Emanuel, for example, spoke about the difficulties he encounters in his youth ministry in an Austrian mountain parish. Joanna, from Poland, received words of encouragement in her efforts to care for Ukrainian families fleeing their country because of the war. Alberto, an Italian, asked for advice on how to live courtship as a form of self-giving. The Prelate responded with a brief consideration of the search for the good of the other person as an essential element of love that rises above personal satisfaction, which is also necessarily present in love. At the request of Ben, a Canadian, who had asked him to recount the story of the discovery of his own vocation, Msgr. Ocáriz briefly described the circumstances of his request for admission to Opus Dei, in a center in a city where, as a young man, he spent a year of his summer vacation.
