Zürich (Switzerland) -- From Professor Ratzinger to Pope Benedict XVI

On June 25, 2005, a seminar for priests was held in the Flüntern Conference Center in Zürich. It was opened by Canon Christoph Casetti, who related his personal impressions as a disciple of Professor Ratzinger at the University of Münster and in summer theology weeks in Bierbronnen, Germany. He presented a picture of an accessible man, with a deep theological knowledge and a great capacity for clarifying complex questions. In the second part of his conference he gave an overall picture of the work of Joseph Ratzinger as professor, bishop, and cardinal prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

This presentation was followed by celebration of Mass. The liturgical texts were those of the votive Mass of Christ the Eternal High Priest, since, as Canon Casetti noted, the date marked the anniversary of the ordination of the three first priests of Opus Dei. Following a projection of a filmed get-together with St. Josemaría in Valle Grande, Peru, Father Andreas Wildhaber gave a meditation on an aspiration prayed frequently by the Founder of Opus Dei: “omnes cum Petro ad Jesum per Mariam!” All with Peter to Jesus through Mary! The seminar ended with Benediction and the singing of the Salve Regina.
